QUICK FIX FOR STREAMYX

>> common error messages <<

Here are some useful solutions to help counter common Streamyx error messages:

  1. Error 678 - Remote computer did not respond

Possible Cause: Lost connection, faulty modem, network card or splitter

    Solutions:
    • If the Link/DSL light on your modem is blinking, switch your modem off and restart it. Connect your modem directly to the wall socket, bypassing the splitter. Alternatively, try using another RJ11 telephone cable.
    • If the Link/DSL light on your modem is lit, try reinstalling your current dialler.
    • If the LAN/ETH light on your modem is off, try reinstalling your network card's software or driver. Ensure that RJ45 network cable is properly fitted to the modem and PC. Also check to see if you need another RJ45 network cable.

  2. Error 691 - Invalid login ID or password
  3. Possible Cause: Login ID or password typo error

    Solutions:
    • Ensure that your login ID is typed in the following format: loginID@streamyx (eg. Abc7@streamyx)
    • Remember that your login ID is case-sensitive.
    • Check if your password has been entered correctly.
    • Also, only one login session is allowed at a time.

  5. Possible Cause: Disconnected network cable, faulty network card or corrupted network driver

    Solutions:

    • Try reinstalling your network driver by using the Device Manager Function.
      • Click 'Start', select 'Run', type sysdm.cpl, then click 'OK'.
      • Click on the 'Hardware' tab, click 'Device Manager', and then locate 'Network Adapters'.
      • Expand 'Network Adapters', then right-click the icon for your network adapter.
      • Click 'Uninstall', then click 'OK'. In the dialogue box that prompts you to remove files that are associated with this device, click 'Yes'.

    • If Windows finds the device but does not recognise it, you need to install the latest driver for the network adapter.
